The Poetics of Space; a good book to read and a good way to think of the space you think and create in. The smell. The lighting. The windows. The time of day. What I’m drinking. The music. The background noise. The clutter. The images around me. My day. My state of being.
It ALL comes into the studio because I am deliberate about my state of being when I enter. Just as every other place in my life deserves my purposeful awareness, my time with my art is the same. I breathe, I ponder, I clear out any unwanted intentions and mind clutter. And when I can’t do it that way; I paint it out. I create a “purge piece” and then move on. So today I encourage you to check what you bring to the canvas. Be aware, be purposeful and move forward with loving kindness to both yourself and your work.
