This week my thoughts ruminated on the space outside of home. Home being our first inhabited world, we establish natural, organic patterns that become written into our very being. Every space we occupy thereafter are echoes of this first space and those first patterns of movement. I think that is why I am attracted to shadows. They create line within spaces otherwise uninhabited. They carry me into areas my senses and mind would miss altogether in both intricate and modern ways. And so I share with you one of my inspiring journeys that push my work on the canvas into spaces it couldn’t know without first light, creating shadow, creating inspiration, creating composition and finally creating my visual language. Take time to look at how your body responds to and moves in the places and spaces you experience. They are all somehow connectable to your first world; home.
